"Learning how to provide culturally sensitive care to a diverse population of patients is a fundamental responsibility for first responders. This engaging case-based interactive program combines relevant information and effective strategies to improve the connections between emergency personnel and patients before, during, and after a disaster. It is an invaluable resource for disaster response clinicians and educators alike as we strive to improve our cultural competency."

Sandy Hunter, Ph.D., NREMT-P
Professor, Paramedic Program, Eastern Kentucky University

My Progress

The "My Progress" page, located on the side navigation, is an online record of your continuing education activities. This page displays each major section of the site, the status, and the date it was completed. From this page, you can also print your certificate at any time. You must complete an entire Course to earn credits. You must pass each Posttest with a score of 70% or better and complete the Course Evaluation. You can earn a total of 9 credits if you complete all four Courses and the Course Evaluations (2.25 credits per Course). You must have Adobe Acrobat installed to download your certificate.

Automatic Log-Out

If you are participating in this course and you leave your computer idle for 60 minutes or more, the system will automatically end your session by logging you out. If this happens while you are filling out a form or answering a test, you will lose your answers and the system will prompt you to log-in again. This time limit is imposed to prevent someone else from clicking or submitting something to an 'open Web session' if you step away from your computer.

For how long is the program accredited?

The Cultural Competency Curriculum for Disaster Preparedness and Crisis Response program is currently, and for the foreseeable future, accredited for continuing education credits.

OMH is obligated per our accrediting agreement to post the expiration dates of continuing education programs, and this is common to other continuing education courses. We are committed to ensuring that the reaccrediting process is completed in a timely manner so that the deadline extension occurs in a transparent and seamless way for users.
